NHLThe latest Classic Auctions historical hockey memorabilia auction launches Tuesday, Jan. 28. The Winter 2014 auction will feature prized lots from the personal collections of Hockey Hall of Fame honoured member Émile “Butch” Bouchard and New York Islanders’ Stanley Cup hero Robert “Butch” Goring.

The auction will be online for one month via classicauctions.net.

In November 2013, the Classic Auctions Fall 2013 Historical Hockey Memorabilia auction generated more than $2.17-million U.S. in collector sales, with more than 1,300 lots receiving at least one bid. The highest bid was $172,403 for a 1986 Edmonton Oilers Wayne Gretzky game-worn jersey (which, after the 19.5% buyer’s premium, had a final sale of $206,201).

Just ahead of the auction’s opening day, Classic Auctions published three short vignettes to preview the auction: one featuring a Bert Olmstead game-worn jersey, another featuring a Goring Prince of Wales Trophy, and a third featuring film-worn hockey jerseys from the 1977 movie Slapshot.
