NHLThe Detroit Red Wings will host its fifth Bobblehead Thursday promotion this Feb. 23 before the Red Wings-Canucks game at Joe Louis Arena. The first 7,500 fans in attendance will receive a Todd Bertuzzi Bobblehead courtesy Amway.

Bertuzzi, who recently scored his 300th career goal, is now in his 16th NHL season. Through 54 games in 2011-12, he has scored 12 goals and 29 points. A one-time NHL First Team All-Star with the Canucks, Bertuzzi is now in his third full season with the Red Wings.

Previous Detroit Thursday Bobble nights were Oct. 13 Pavel Datsyuk, Nov. 3 Henrik Zetterberg, Dec. 8 Johan Franzén and Jan. 13 Daniel Cleary. The sixth and final bobble in the series will be distributed at the end of the regular season on Apr. 5 (Nicklas Lidström).

While it was the Red Wings that selected Datsyuk and Lidström for the six-bobble series, it was the fans that selected Bertuzzi and the other bobbles for the 2011-12 series. The bobble fan vote was conducted in advance of the regular season in an online campaign called “Operation: Bobblehead.”

“We always look for the best items possible to present to our fans,” said Tom Wilson, president of Olympia Entertainment, in July 2011. “Remarkably, it always comes down to bobbleheads being the souvenir that most fans want and (the sourvenir they) want to keep and display. It’s a great memory of a great time at The Joe (Louis Arena).”
