Three-day Calgary Sports Convention starts this Friday

The first edition of the Calgary Sports Convention will take place this week, supporting and promoting all things sports. The three-day event runs this weekend from Aug. 16-18, 2013.

The Calgary Sports Convention takes place at the BMO Centre in Exhibit Hall E in Calgary. Show hours are Friday from 5pm to 9:30pm (Sneak Peek Night), Saturday from 10:30am to 8pm, and Sunday from 10:30am to 5pm.

Announced autograph guests include hockey legends Paul Coffey and Theoren Fleury. Coffey is best remembered for his days with the Edmonton Oilers in the 1980s while Fleury is best remembered for his days with the Calgary Flames in the 1990s. Both players are Stanley Cup winners.

Athletes from other sports will also be in attendance, with more details found at the YycSportsCon Facebook page.

Also attending the show is Bill Clement who will serve as a guest speaker at one of the speaker sessions. Clement was a Stanley Cup winner with the Flyers in the 1970s, then finished his NHL career with the Flames in Calgary in 1982.
