A quarter of Canada ’72 stars will sign autographs on Tuesday Sep. 1 at A.J. Sports World in Vaughan, ON. Hockey fans can meet Stan Mikita, Brian Glennie, Pat Stapleton and Red Bereson at the A.J. Sports World store located at 2720 Steeles Avenue. The signings start at 6:00 pm.

Mikita and Berenson are Stanley Cup champions, Mikita having won the championship in 1961 with the Blackhawks and Berenson having won the championship in 1965 with the Canadiens. Stapleton wasn’t there in 1961, but was there in 1966-67 when he, Mikita and the Blackhawks won the Prince of Wales Trophy as regular-season champions. Glennie did not win an NHL title, but did win the 1967 Memorial Cup with the Toronto Marlboros.

All four also helped Canada win the famous 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union. Glennie did not get to play against the Soviets while both Mikita and Berenson made it onto the scoresheet with assists.

Glennie is the youngest of the four – he turned 63 on Aug. 29. Berenson, Mikita and Stapleton are all 69 years old. Mikita is also an honoured member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.
