NHLThe Pittsburgh Penguins have unveiled their specially-designed 2014 NHL Stadium Series hockey jerseys. The jerseys will be worn for an outdoor hockey game at Soldier Field in Chicago, IL on Mar. 1, 2014.

Other Stadium Series games this 2013-14 NHL season will be played in Los Angeles (Jan. 25 between the Kings and Anaheim Ducks) and New York (Jan. 26 Rangers-Devils and Jan. 29 Rangers-Islanders). The Islanders, Kings and Ducks have already unveiled their special jerseys.

Like the other jerseys in the series, the new Penguins gear features a chrome treatment to the logo. According to the league press release, the chrome is inspired from “details in the NHL shield, bringing a dynamic and modern perspective to conventional team identities. The chrome crest was developed using new technology that fuses print and embroidery and allows logos to be displayed as a high-resolution image incorporated into the crest. This technology also reduces the weight of the crest, resulting in a lightweight jersey for improved athlete performance.”

This marks the third time the Penguins have taken part in an NHL outdoor game, following Winter Classic games in 2008 (Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo) and 2011 (Heinz Field in Pittsburgh).
