NHLPanini America will again produce a series of picture cards that will be distributed to collectors at the National Sports Collectors Convention. This year’s show takes place in Chicago from July 31 to August 4, 2013.

“When sports collecting’s annual showcase kicks off later this month at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, IL, Panini America once again will endeavor to steal the show with its trademark wrapper-redemption program,” wrote Tracy Hackler via The Knight’s Lance.

The card set will feature athletes from several different sports, including several hockey stars, both active and retired. While Panini has been quick to unveil images for the VIP set (Wednesday only) as well as the base and insert sets (the rest of the week), the company will guard images and details on the memorabilia series until later this month.

On VIP Wednesday, the six-card set will feature Oilers’ rookie Nail Yakupov. Through the rest of the week, collectors can collect the 24-card base set (including Blackhawks’ Patrick Kane), the Kings insert set (Court Kings, Diamond Kings, Gridiron Kings, Ice Kings), and the Chicago-themed Team Colors set (including recently honoured Hockey Hall of Fame member Chris Chelios).
