New Goodwin Champions released by UDC
The second edition of Goodwin Champions sports cards has been released by the Upper Deck Company. The multi-sport set was released this week on Tue. Aug. 15, 2012. The series includes athletes from, among many other sports, ice hockey.
The 2012 Goodwin Champions set includes a 231-card base set, of which there is a 150-card shell set (1-150), a 40-card “Short Print” subset (151-190), a 20-card “Super Short Print” subset (191-210), and a 21-card “Mini Exclusive” baseball rookie subset (211-231). As was the case last year, only the first 150 cards are also available in a “Mini” variation.
There are 16 hockey players in the 150-card shell set, including Bobby Orr, Wayne Gretzky, Sidney Crosby, Mike Bossy and Mario Lemieux. There are two hockey players in the Short Print subset (Ryan Strome and Raymond Bourque) and one hockey player in the Super Short Print subset (Sid Abel).
The eight hockey autographs are Crosby, Gretzky, Bourque, Orr, Brett Hull, Dale Hawerchuk, Luc Robitaille and Jonathan Huberdeau. In the memorabilia set, there are 17 hockey players in the single swatch series and one player (Crosby) in the dual swatch series.
Along with all the athletes, Goodwin Champions again features Animal Kingdom patch cards, Entomology cards, and oversize (box topper) World Traveler cards. Canadian cities Montréal and Vancouver are featured in the World Traveler set. Amongst the new inserts are Military Machines, It Came from Space Relics (with a piece from a meteorite), Civil War Relics.
