Kings giveaway mini banners on 2013 opening night

NHLThe Los Angeles Kings will lift their first Stanley Cup banner on opening night of the 2012-13 NHL season. For those in attendance to watch the banner rise at the Staples Center, fans will take home a replica mini banner courtesy team presenting sponsor McDonald’s.

The Kings were first-time Stanley Cup champions in 2012, beating the Boston Bruins in six games. As part of the pre-game festivities, players will be presented their 2012 Stanley Cup Authentic Championship Rings.

As for the Kings’ American League affiliate the Manchester Monarchs, they too will celebrate the Kings’ Stanley Cup season on Jan. 19. The Monarchs will host “LA Kings Night” when they (fittingly) face the Providence Bruins. The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a Los Angeles Kings Jersey Bank. The Monarchs game will also feature “a pre-game banner ceremony and Kings videos, music and jerseys.”

- Championship Saturday begins at 9:30 a.m. (local time) with a special Pre-Game Fan Fest presented by Bud Light outside STAPLES Center. The event will feature Street Hockey, Puck Shoot and Shot on Goal, Vendor Village, Merchandise Tent, Face Painting and Tattoo Artist, as well prizes from Bailey and the Ice Crew and more.

- LA Kings Holiday Ice at LA LIVE will be open at 11 a.m. for skating. The Stanley Cup will be located at center ice from 9:30-10 a.m.

- Kings alumni members Marcel Dionne and Daryl Evans will be signing autographs at the Toyota display on Chick Hearn Court from 10:15-11:15 a.m. Rogie Vachon will also be apart of Opening Day festivites.

- FOX Sports West will broadcast their live pre-game show from 11:30 a.m. – Noon.

- The Stanley Cup will be marched from the ice rink at LA LIVE into STAPLES Center beginning at approximately 10:30 a.m.
