NHLPanini America has unveiled the “Hot Rookies” giveaway card set that will be distributed at the upcoming Fall 2012 Sportcard & Memorabilia Expo. The 22-card set features the 1990 Score football Hot Rookies design, but incorporates athletes from four different sports including hockey.

“Incorporating a familiar design taken directly from the landmark 1990 Score Hot Rookies insert, Panini America’s 22-card multisport Expo insert will feature numbering to just 399 on the front, scarce autograph versions and a checklist littered with top rookies from four major North American sports, including several with Toronto ties,” wrote Tracy Hackler via the Panini America blog, The Knight’s Lance.

The “Toronto” ties are hockey players Ashton Carter and Jussi Rynnas of the Maple Leafs, baseball player Brett Lawrie of the Blue Jays, and basketball player Terrence Ross of the Raptors. The set also features Toronto-born basketball player Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The six hockey players in the set are Carter, Rynnas, Chris Kreider of the New York Rangers, Maxime Sauvé of the Boston Bruins, J.T. Brown of the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Sven Bartschi of the Calgary Flames.
