The Philadelphia Flyers will pay tribute to former defenceman Éric Desjardins on Thursday Feb. 19. The Flyers will pay tribute to their former captain in a ceremony that inducts the defenceman into the Flyers Hall of Fame.
Desjardins is the third former player inducted to the Flyers Hall of Fame this 2014-15 season. Earlier this season, both John LeClair and Eric Lindros were inducted on Nov. 20.
Desjardins was a seven-time Barry Ashbee Trophy winner as the Flyers’ top defenceman. He was also a two-time NHL Second Team All-Star (1998-99 and 1999-2000).
“This means a lot to me,” said Desjardins via flyers.nhl.com. “After spending so many years with the Flyers and now being retired for almost nine years now, it’s a great feeling. It is something you don’t think about when you are playing but once you’re retired and an honor like this happens, it is very special.”
