MORE FROM THE CAROLINA HURRICANES
Outside activities for the Caniac Carnival will include more than 20 inflatable rides, interactive games and booths, a toddler zone, sports area, live band and DJ, appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and more! Among the inflatables are large slides, an obstacle course, moon bounce, sports challenge, bungee run, joust, velcro wall, mechanical bull, climbing wall and various sports-themed activities. There will be more than 40 interactive booths from Carolina Hurricanes sponsors, and live music will feature Spivey’s Corner and DJ George.

Inside PNC Arena, fans will be able to play street hockey on the arena floor, take their picture on the team bench and penalty box or with the Olympia. The Hurricanes mascot, Stormy, will be signing autographs and taking pictures from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00-2:00 p.m. The Eye Care Associates Storm Squad will be signing autographs and taking pictures from 12:00-2:00 p.m. These activities will take place outside of section 124.

The Caniac Carnival will also include Crazy Caniac Challenge IV, a two-lap race around PNC Arena (approximately two miles). This may sound easy, but once again there is that twist. After completing one lap, participants must eat two hot dogs and drink one 12-ounce soda before running the final lap. The grand prize winner will receive two 12-game plans for the 2012-2013 season. There are also runner-up prizes and two other categories with gifts for the top finishers (14-and-under division and a female division). In addition, all participants that finish the race will be eligible to win two 12-game plans for the 2012-2013 season in which there will be one winner picked via a random drawing. Click here to sign up or for more information. Price to participate in the race is only $15 and includes a t-shirt. All profits go the Kids ‘N Community Foundation.

The Hurricanes will also be hosting a blood drive benefiting the Rex Blood Services community blood bank. The Rex Blood Services bloodmobile will be on-site at the event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. All blood that is donated will be used to save lives in our local hospitals including Rex Hospital, UNC Healthcare and Duke Raleigh Hospital. Remember, one donation can save three lives! Sign up for your appointment today!
