2009-10 McDonald’s hockey

Hockey fans have returned to McDonald’s this November to collect the annual hockey card set produced by the Upper Deck Company. These cards have been exclusively sold in McDonald’s Canadian restaurants since 1991-92 (with the exception of 2004-05). This year’s set features a 50-card base set and a 50-card insert set.

Of note, there are no prize jersey or signature cards in this year’s set. Instead, McDonald’s has kept collectors focused on the five basic insert sets including In The Spotlight (10 cards with an average of one in every 60th pack) and Pride of Canada (14 cards with an average of one in every 40th pack).

From the 50-card base set, there are 14 players that make their McDonald’s debut. The new “youngsters” are Steven Stamkos, Drew Doughty, Luke Schenn, Steve Mason, Mike Richards, Mike Green, Zach Parisé, Shea Weber and Ryan Kesler. The older debuts are Andrei Markov, Niklas Bäckström, Marc Savard, Sheldon Souray and Tim Thomas.

McDonald’s hockey is sold in three-card packs for 99 cents per pack (with the purchase of food or drink). As it does every year, the in-store promotion runs for a limited time. To complete your set, you can visit your local hobby store to pick up any missing singles.
