New O-Pee-Chee hockey card set released
The new 2012-13 O-Pee-Chee hockey card set was released at collector stores in Canada and USA. The O-Pee-Chee series, released on August 13, is the first hockey card brand of the 2012-13 collecting season.
“O-Pee-Chee is the one hockey card product that truly spans multiple generations,” said Grant Sandground, the Upper Deck Co.’s NHL Product Development Manager. “O-Pee-Chee’s heritage in Canada dates all the way back to the 1930s, so hockey fans of all ages have grown up with these cards.”
This marks the seventh year that the O-Pee-Chee brand has been produced by the Upper Deck Co. While there are 600 cards in the basic set, there are in fact more than 3,000 cards (including parallel variations and inserts) featured in the 2012-13 brand.
“For the brand new 2012-13, release we wanted to deliver the classic features including a base set featuring a whopping 600 cards, the popular one-per-pack base set Retro Variations, and Team Canada autograph cards along with new inserts like Team Logo Patch cards, Stickers and Pop-Ups to provide collectors with a wide array of cards to collect,” said Sandground. “To make things more exciting for our Canadian fans, we have a special wrapper redemption program for hobby packs to score a special red-bordered parallel set!”
A hobby box of 2012-13 O-Pee-Chee hockey includes 32 packs with eight cards in every pack. Hobby packs cost about $2 each, a little more expensive than last year, but with two additional cards in every pack (eight cards instead of six). Every hobby pack includes at least one parallel variation, so you’ll get approximately 200 base cards (from the 600-card base set) in your 32-pack hobby box.
