Panini Prime hockey cards released

Posted on 31st August 2012 by hockeymedia in Cards,The Want List

NHLThe new 2011-12 Panini Prime hockey card set was released at collector stores in Canada and USA. The new Panini Prime brand, released on Aug. 31, 2012, is Panini America’s second-last hockey card brand of the 2011-12 collecting season.

A pack of the new cut-to-the-chase product costs about $200. Collectors are promised a rookie signature memorabilia card, a multi-piece memorabilia card, a signature card, and an additional autograph or memorabilia card. The box (and wrapper) reads five trading cards per pack, but don’t be surprised when you in fact pull seven cards (two base cards plus five special cards).

Some of the notable memorabilia inserts in this product are Prime Ties (with the actual laces from a hockey jersey, available via redemption), Genuine Marks (signed nameplate letter cards), and Captain’s Cloth.

While the first two 2012-13 brands have been released in August (Panini America’s Score and Upper Deck Co.’s O-Pee-Chee), two more 2011-12 brands are still to come after Panini Prime. Collectors can expect to see Panini America’s 2011-12 Dominion and UDC’s 2011-12 The Cup in September.
