Bower to sign autographs at Spring 2015 Expo

NHLHockey Hall of Fame honoured member Johnny Bower will sign autographs at the upcoming Spring 2015 Sportcard & Memorabilia Expo. Bower is the latest retired star confirmed for the upcoming three-day hockey memorabilia weekend.

Bower was a three-time winner of the J.P. Bickell Cup as the Maple Leafs’ most valuable player. He won four Stanley Cup rings in the 1960s, three straight from 1962 to 1964 and then another in 1967 (which is also the last Maple Leafs Stanley Cup victory to date).

After his retirement, Bower became an honoured member of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1976. He is also an honoured member of the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame, the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame, the Etobicoke Sports Hall of Fame, and the Ontario Legends Sports Hall of Fame. In 2007, he had his star added to Canada’s Walk of Fame.

So far, Bower, Paul Coffey, Dale Hawerchuk and Frank Mahovlich are among the confirmed autograph signers for the upcoming Spring 2015 Expo.

NHLHockey Hall of Fame honoured member Johnny Bower will sign autographs on Saturday at the Frozen Pond hockey memorabilia store just north of Toronto. Bower will be in store from noon until 2pm on Dec. 20, 2014.

In store, Bower autographs cost $10 for regular items or $15 for bulky items. If you can’t make it to Frozen Pond, you can also purchase autographs by mail, with more information available from Frozen Pond at 905.760.8404.

Bower was a four-time Stanley Cup winner with the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1960s, winning titles in 1962, 1963, 1964 and 1967. In 2001, the Society of International Hockey Research recognised Bower as the most valuable player of the 1963 playoffs.

Bower was also an NHL First Team All-Star in 1960-61 and a runner up in voting for the Hart Trophy. He was also a two-time Vézina Trophy winner. After his retirement in 1976, he was became a Hockey Hall of Fame honoured member.

Sunday Maple Leafs autograph signing at Frozen Pond

NHLFrozen Pond will celebrate a “Leafs Day” autograph signing on Sunday, December 7, 2014. The in-store autograph signing will feature Peter Holland, Leo Komarov and Stuart Percy from 3-4pm.

The in-store prices are $15 per autograph or $35 for the combination of all three players. Hockey fans can also order their autographs by contacting Frozen Pond at 905.760.8404.

NHLThe Toronto Maple Leafs 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame game-worn jersey auction runs until Dec. 11, 2014. Each Toronto blue game-worn jersey features the 14th Annual Hockey Hall of Fame Game patch.

The Maple Leafs jerseys were worn on Nov. 14, 2014 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto during the 14th annual Hockey Hall of Fame game. The host Maple Leafs lost 2-1 to the Penguins. This year’s Hockey Hall of Fame class featured Mike Modano, Peter Forsberg, Dominik Hasek and Rob Blake.

These blue Heritage jerseys are registered into the Toronto Maple Leafs-MGG Game-Worn Jersey Authentication Program. Each jersey has the official Hockey Hall of Fame Game patch sewn onto the front of the jersey. The Maple Leafs wore one blue Heritage set of jerseys for this game only.

Bower autograph signing on Sunday at Toronto Card Show

AHLThe great Johnny Bower will sign autographs at this weekend’s Toronto Card Show in North York, ON. The former NHL goalie will sign autographs from noon until 2pm.

“We are very happy to announce that Johnny Bower will be at the Toronto Card Show on Sunday, April 13th,” wrote Frank Williamson of the Toronto Card Show, a monthly collecting show at Leaside Gardens in the North York suburb of Toronto.

Bower is a Stanley Cup winner and honoured member of the Hockey Hall of Fame. He is a regular on the autograph circuit, having most recently signed at the September 2013 edition of the Toronto Card Show.

The Apr. 13 show will be the fourth of the Toronto Card Show’s 2014 calendar year. Other autograph guests this year have been Norm Ullman (January) and Red Kelly (March).

Kelly to sign autographs on Sunday at Toronto Card Show

AHLEight-time Stanley Cup winner Red Kelly will sign autographs this Sunday at the Toronto Card Show. The former Red Wings defenceman / Maple Leafs forward will sign autographs from noon until 2pm on Sunday, Mar. 16.

Kelly won four Stanley Cups with the Red Wings in the 1950s and four Stanley Cups with the Maple Leafs in the 1960s. He won the Norris Trophy and was a runner-up in voting for the Hart Trophy in 1953-54.

The price of any Kelly autograph at the show is just $15. Admission to the show is free. Kelly previously signed at the Toronto Card Show in September 2010.

The Mar. 16 show will be the third of the Toronto Card Show’s 2014 calendar year. In January, the Toronto Card Show featured autograph guest Norm Ullman; upcoming in April, the show will feature autograph guest Johnny Bower.

MeiGray sells authentic Winter Classic game-worn jerseys

NHLGame-worn jerseys from the NHL Winter Classic are available now via a MeiGray auction. Fans can bid on the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs jerseys until Jan. 23, 2014.

The jerseys were won on Jan. 1, 2014 at the “Big House” in Detroit, an outdoor classic hockey game that drew 105,491 fans on the grounds of the University of Michigan.

Included in the auction are 16 game-worn Red Wings jerseys (worn during the first period), 20 game-worn Maple Leafs jerseys (also from the first period), eight game-issued Red Wings jerseys, six game-issued Maple Leafs jerseys, and game-used and practice-used Winter Classic hockey pucks.

Both Winter Classic jerseys – the red Red Wings and blue Maple Leafs gamers – pay tribute to team designs from the 1930s.

Two years ago, the 2012 MeiGray Winter Classic auction featured game-worn jerseys from the Flyers-Rangers game in Philadelphia. One year prior, the 2011 MeiGray Winter Classic auction featured game-worn jerseys from the Penguins-Capitals game in Pittsburgh. In 2010, the MeiGray Winter Classic auction featured game-worn jerseys from the Bruins-Flyers game in Boston.

Upper Deck produces Winter Classic hockey card set

NHLThe Upper Deck Company has unveiled details for a 20-player hockey card set that will be distributed free at the 2014 NHL Winter Classic in Detroit, the outdoor hockey game that will put the Red Wings against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The 2013-14 Upper Deck Winter Classic set features 10 Red Wings (cards WC1-10) and 10 Maple Leafs (cards WC11-20).

“Every fan in attendance will receive a free pack of these cards,” wrote Chris Carlin via the Upper Deck Blog. “Upper Deck will have a booth set up at the venue where fans can score more packs to trade in order to complete the entire set.

“It won’t just be about trading at Upper Deck’s booth as fans will have the opportunity to get their very own personalized Upper Deck trading card produced at the venue for free! Get to the Big House early so you can score some of these awesome collectibles!”

Of course, these Upper Deck Winter Classic cards will feature photos from regular season and/or playoff action. Card collectors can expect images from the outdoor 2014 Winter Classic game in future hockey card sets, a tradition that dates back to the first Winter Classic in 2008. That year, the Upper Deck Company included “Winter Classic” inserts in 2008-09 O-Pee-Chee, Upper Deck and Upper Deck MVP.

Two years ago, Panini America produced a 2011-12 Pinnacle Winter Classic hockey card series for the Flyers-Rangers game in Philadelphia.

The 2014 Winter Classic is Jan. 1, 2014.

Bower and Palmateer to sign autographs at Frozen Pond

Toronto Maple Leafs alumni Johnny Bower and Mike Palmateer will sign autographs at the Frozen Pond hockey memorabilia store on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013. The duo will be in store from noon until 2pm.

The cost of Bower autographs are just $10 for flat items or $15 for bulky items. The cost for Palmateer autographs, meanwhile, are just $15 for flat items or $30 for bulky items. For more information, collectors are encouraged to contact the store at 905.760.8404.

Ullman to sign autographs at weekend January show

NHLHockey Hall of Fame honoured member Norm Ullman will sign autographs in January at the Toronto Card Show. Ullman will be a guest at the show’s first of 12 dates in the 2014 calendar year.

It was, after all, just last month that the Toronto Card Show announced its doors would re-open at the refurbished Leaside Gardens in the North York on Dec. 8, 2013. In the coming year, there will 12 monthly shows from Jan. 12 to Dec. 14 (please check out The Want List’s calendar).

Ullman was the NHL’s top goal scorer and a First Team All-Star in 1964-65. That season, he finished as a runner up in voting for the Hart Trophy behind Bobby Hull. After more than a decade with the Detroit Red Wings, he spent the second part of his NHL career with the Toronto Maple Leafs before playing two final seasons in the World Hockey Association with the Edmonton Oilers.
