Blue Jackets announce third jersey schedule for 2014-15

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets will wear their blue third jerseys for 12 home games this 2014-15 season.

The third jerseys, which pay tribute to the ‘connection between the team name and its Civil War heritage’, was first introduced back in 2010-11.

The schedule of 12 dates run from Oct. 17 to Apr. 2. Before Christmas, the six dates are Oct. 17, Oct. 28, Nov. 15, Dec. 18 and Dec. 22. After the new year, the six dates are Jan. 14, Feb. 6, Feb. 28, Mar. 7, Mar. 15 and Apr. 2.

Blue Jackets Fan Fest this Friday in Columbus

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets will hold their 2014 Fan Fest on Friday, Sep. 12. The event takes place from 6-9pm at Nationwide Arena.

The free event offers fans to meet and greet Blue Jackets players, tour the locker room, and participate in a variety of interactive games.

For the autograph session, fans will be limited to one signed item per autograph line. According to bluejackets.nhl.com, “only fans with an autograph voucher are guaranteed to get a signature. A limited number of vouchers will be distributed at each autograph location beginning approximately 30 minutes prior to each autograph session.”

Players scheduled to sign autographs are Brandon Dubinsky, Scott Hartnell, Nathan Horton, Boone Jenner, Ryan Murray, Artem Anisimov, Cam Atkinson, Jared Boll, Matt Calvert, Mark Letestu, Fedor Tyutin, David Savard, Corey Tropp, Curtis McElhinney, Tim Erixon, and Cody Goloubef.

Blue Jackets promote Military Jersey auction

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets paid tribute to the “nation’s armed forces” during Military Appreciation Night on Apr. 7, 2013. As part of the tribute, the players wore specially-designed camo warm-up jerseys before the home game. The jerseys were then sold via auction.

“All jerseys will have a starting bid of $150 with proceeds being split between the Blue Jackets Foundation and The Ohio State University’s Student Veterans Affairs Fund,” wrote the Blue Jackets. “In addition to the individual jerseys that will be available via auction, there will be one team-signed jersey that will be raffled. Fans may purchase raffle tickets for $20.”

Fans are encouraged to take their seats early for a pre-game video honoring service members past and present. The video is highlighted by the personal military connections of several Blue Jackets players, coaches, season ticket holders, game-night staff and other Blue Jackets personalities. The evening will also include recognition of all current and former military personnel in attendance.

Before the game, the 338th U.S. Army Band will entertain fans on the concourse and then perform the National Anthem at ice level. In addition, six local children from the 684th ASMC Family Readiness Group will be treated to rides on the Zamboni® and several active duty members representing the USO of Central Ohio will have the opportunity to watch pre-game warm-ups from the penalty boxes.

As a show of support and gratitude for all active and retired service members, Blue Jackets players will wear specially designed camouflage-style jerseys during pre-game warm-ups. The complete set of authentic worn jerseys will be individually autographed by the respective players and available for bidding in a silent auction through the end of the second intermission. The signed jerseys will be displayed on the arena’s Bud Light Terrace outside Section 115.

On this night, the participating charity for the Blue Jackets Foundation’s 50/50 Raffle will be Operation Buckeye, a local organization that sends troops boxes containing food and snacks, personal hygiene items, reading materials and messages of support. Near the end of the game, one lucky winner will win 50% of the total raffle sales with the other half supporting Operation Buckeye and the Blue Jackets Foundation. Tickets priced at one for $2, three for $5, ten for $10, and 40 for $20 will be sold at multiple locations throughout the arena.

Blue Jackets to wear St. Patrick’s Day jerseys

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets will wear 2013 St. Patrick’s Day warm-up jerseys before their home game on Saturday, Mar. 16. The green practice jerseys – which will then be signed – will be sold via auction to benefit the Blue Jackets Foundation.

Each green practice jersey is “adorned with a Shamrock patch in recognition of St. Patrick’s Day.” Fans can bid on the jerseys at games on Mar. 14 (against the Blackhawks) and Mar. 16 (against the Coyotes). All jerseys open with a starting bid of $150; each auction ends at the end of the second period.

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets have announced they will wear their alternate (third) jersey for seven games this 2012-13 season. The union blue game jersey will be worn exclusively for home games at Nationwide Arena.

The Blue Jackets third jersey was originally unveiled two seasons ago on Nov. 24, 2010.

MORE ABOUT THE BLUE JACKETS 3rd JERSEY
In keeping with themes that reiterate the connection between the Blue Jackets team name and its Civil War heritage, the distinguishing design element of the Third Jersey is the felt crest depicting the hockey club’s signature 1857 Napoleon cannon that fires each time the Blue Jackets score at Nationwide Arena.

The team name “Columbus Blue Jackets” encircles the cannon in a ribbon inspired by Civil War medals while a single star centered at the bottom of the crest signifies Columbus as Ohio’s capital.

The predominant color is the Union Blue which has been part of the team’s uniform since the inaugural season. The Capital Silver plays a more prominent role and is complimented by the introduction of two new colors, Steel Blue and Vintage White, to form the striping pattern. With the new jersey, the players will wear a Union Blue pant with a vertical white stripe and blue socks with the same striping pattern. The Union Blue gloves include Vintage White accents.

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets have worn green St. Patrick’s Day warm-up jerseys that will be sold via auction with proceeds benefiting the Blue Jackets’ charitable foundation. The warm-up jerseys were worn on Mar. 8 and will be sold through Mar. 11, 2012.

The starting bid for each warm-up jersey is $150. Each warm-up jersey has a special Shamrock patch. The silent auction runs through to the second intermission of the Mar. 11 game.

NHLThe Columbus Blue Jackets will celebrate Fan Appreciation Night this Sat. Apr. 9. This Saturday night marks the end of the Blue Jackets’ 2010-11 season – the 10th in franchise history. All fans in attendance will receive a Blue Jackets yearbook courtesy partners AAA Ohio, Columbia Gas, FOX Sports Ohio, OhioHealth, Tim Hortons and Time Warner.

Blue Jackets unveil third jersey

NHLThe Columbus Jackets have unveiled their third jersey for the 2010-11 season. The jersey was unveiled on Nov. 24, but will be properly worn for the first time this Friday Nov. 26 against the Detroit Red Wings.

The Blue Jackets actually unveiled the jersey during the live FOX Sports Ohio broadcast of the Nov. 24 Blue Jackets away game against the New York Islanders. It was featured during the first intermission of the game.

The Blue Jackets third jerseys will be worn for 15 games this 2010-11 season, starting with the Nov. 26 game against the Red Wings.

Blue JacketsColumbus Blue Jackets’ draft pick John Moore will sign autographs this Sun. Sep. 20 at North High Street Giant Eagle in Columbus (2801 North High Street). Moore will sign autographs from 3:30-4:30 pm.

Moore was the Blue Jackets’ first-round draft pick from the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The defender was drafted 21st overall.
