Hurricanes scheduled to wear black alternate jerseys

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will wear black alternate jerseys for 12 home games this 2014-15 season. The first of 12 nights will be Saturday Nov. 1 at PNC Arena.

The schedule of 12 dates run from Nov. 1 through Mar. 14. Before Christmas, the five dates are Nov. 1, Nov. 7, Nov. 13, Dec. 7, and Dec. 18. After Christmas, the seven dates are Jan. 4, Jan. 13, Jan. 27, Feb. 17, Feb. 27, Mar. 8 and Mar. 14.

Also during the 2014-15 season, the Hurricanes will wear their road white jerseys at home twice: Dec. 2 and Mar. 26. The Hurricanes otherwise wear red for their home games.

The Hurricanes also wore their black alternate jerseys for 12 games in 2013-14.

Faulk hockey bobble a Hurricanes giveaway on Thursday

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will distribute Justin Faulk hockey bobbles on Thursday night. The collectible bobbles will be distributed on Apr. 3, 2014 before the Hurricanes-Stars home game.

The Faulk giveaway will complete the Hurricanes 2013-14 Bobble Nights collection. Already this season, the Hurricanes have celebrated Bobble Nights for Jeffrey Skinner (November), a Jordan Staal (January), and Alexander Semin (February).

The Thursday bobble will feature Faulk in a red Hurricanes jersey. Previous 2013-14 bobbles featured Skinner in a red jersey, Staal in a black jersey and Semin in a white jersey.

This 2013-14 season, other NHL teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild have also distributed hockey bobbles. Also on Saturday Feb. 8, the Rockford Icehogs will distribute a Brandon Saad hockey bobble.

Semin hockey bobble a Hurricanes giveaway on Saturday

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will distribute Alexander Semin collectible bobbleheads at their home game on Sunday night. The first 10,000 fans attending the Hurricanes-Canadiens game on Feb. 8, 2014 will receive the free hockey toy.

The Hurricanes Saturday giveaway is the third in a four-player bobble series for this 2013-14 promotional season. In November, a Jeffrey Skinner bobblehead was distributed ahead of the team’s home game. Then in January, a Jordan Staal bobble was distributed on the Hurricanes’ second Bobble Night of the season.

Following the Semin Bobble Night this Saturday, there will be a Justin Faulk Bobble Night on Apr. 3 to complete the 2013-14 collection.

The Saturday bobble will feature Semin in a white Hurricanes jersey.

Staal Bobbles a Hurricanes giveaway on Sunday night

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will distribute Jordan Staal collectible bobbleheads at their home game on Sunday night. The first 10,000 fans attending the Hurricanes-Lightning game on Jan. 19, 2014 will receive the free hockey toy.

The Hurricanes Sunday giveaway is the second in a four-player bobble series for this 2013-14 promotional season. In November, a Jeffrey Skinner bobblehead was distributed ahead of the team’s home game. Before the end of the season, there will be both an Alexander Semin Bobble Night (February 8) and a Justin Faulk Bobble Night (April 3).

The Sunday bobble will feature Staal in a black Hurricanes jersey. While past bobbles have featured Staal with the Pittsburgh Penguins, this is the first bobble featuring Staal with the Hurricanes.

In 2009-10, the Hurricanes celebrated Eric Staal Bobble Night (honouring Jordan’s older brother) on March 4, 2010.

This 2013-14 season, other NHL teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers, Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild have also distributed hockey bobbles. Also on Sunday Jan. 19, the Blackhawks will distribute a Brandon Saad hockey bobble.


Hurricanes announce Bobbles giveaway series

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes have announced its promotional giveaway schedule for the 2013-14 season, highlighted by four Bobbles giveaways on four separate nights through the course of the season. The series features Jeff Skinner, Jordan Staal, Alexander Semin and Justin Faulk.

The Bobbles giveaway nights are Nov. 24 (Skinner), Jan. 19 (Staal), Feb. 8 (Semin) and Apr. 3 (Faulk).

For each Bobbles night, the first 10,000 fans in attendance at the Hurricanes home game will receive a commemorative gift. The Bobbles are sponsored by Compuware.

While the Hurricanes did not promote Bobbles Nights during the shortened 2012-13 campaign, they did recently promote four Bobbles Nights during the 2011-12 season (Skinner, Tuomo Ruutu, Joni Pitkänen and Tomas Kaberle).

Hurricanes announce 2013-14 Third Jersey schedule

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will wear its black Third Jersey for 12 games during the 2013-14 NHL season. The jersey will be worn 11 times at home and once on the road.

The Hurricanes black Third Jersey has been in circulation since 2008-09. The jersey will be worn for the first time in 2013-14 on Oct. 13 against the Coyotes.

The Hurricanes will wear the Third Jersey nearly every two weeks. In November and December, the jersey will be worn Nov. 29 against the Devils, Dec. 20 against the Capitals and Dec. 31 against the Canadiens.

In the new year, the jersey will be worn at home Jan. 9 against the Maple Leafs, Jan. 19 against the Lightning, Jan. 27 against the Blue Jackets, Feb. 7 against the Panthers, Mar. 7 against the Rangers, and Mar. 16 against the Oilers.

The Hurricanes will also wear the Third Jersey on Feb. 27 on the road against the Panthers.

Hurricanes unveil new 2013-14 jersey

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will be wearing new digs in 2013-14. The organisation officially unveiled new jerseys in both red (home) and white (away) on Jun. 4, four months from the start of the new season.

“What we wanted to do, when we set out to change the jersey, was really clean it up,” said Carolina Hurricanes’ President and General Manager Jim Rutherford. “When you have a jersey for as long as we have, I think you come to a point when you need to make some changes.”

Via a special Hurricanes microsite, the “New Storm” (as the jersey is called) is promoted to arrive in September. The microsite has plenty of photos and videos detailing the new Carolina look.

The Hurricanes arrived in the Carolina area in 1998-99, having moved from Hartford where the club was known as the Whalers. The franchise reached the Stanley Cup final in 2002 and then won the Stanley Cup in 2006.

Hurricanes to launch Military jersey auction

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will launch an online Military Appreciation Night jersey auction to benefit the Hurricanes Foundation. The auction features Hurricanes camouflage practice jerseys that were worn on Mar. 9, 2013.

While this is the 10th year the Hurricanes have hosted a Military Appreciation Night, this year marks the first time the team has produced special camouflage jerseys.

At the Mar. 9 game, the Hurricanes auctioned two jerseys before the end of the second period, specifically those worn by Tim Gleason and Jay Harrison. The rest of the camouflage jerseys will be available via CarolinaHurricanes.com/Foundation.

Hurricanes offer four Mystery Puck Nights

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes will have four Mystery Puck Nights at select home games this 2012-13 season. The four dates are Feb. 1, Mar. 9, Apr. 20 and Apr. 25, with the signed pucks sold at the Kids ‘N Community kiosk at Section 129.

This marks the third season that the Foundation has held Mystery Puck Nights to support its annual giving. Over the past two seasons, the Mystery Puck Fundraiser has raised over $80,000 for the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. This year’s series will feature four different themed pucks sold at the Kids ‘N Community Foundation kiosk (Section 129) on Feb. 1, March 9, April 20 and April 25.

Each Mystery Puck is autographed by a Hurricanes player to be revealed after purchase. Every Mystery Puck Night, 300 pucks will sell for $30 each once doors open at 6 p.m. until they sell out. There is a limit of two pucks per person. Each puck also comes with a certificate of authenticity and a tax receipt.

The Kids ‘N Community Foundation raises money to support the growth of children’s charities throughout North Carolina. Thanks to continued support from players and the corporate community, the Foundation has funded scholarship programs, youth hockey, educational efforts, children’s health programs, the arts and other causes. In the Fall of 2012, the Kids ‘N Community Foundation awarded $200,000 to four organizations: InterAct of Wake County, Marbles Kids Museum, Triangle Family Services and YMCA of the Triangle. Funds raised from the Mystery Puck Nights will help support the Foundation’s Spring Grant Cycle.

NHLThe Carolina Hurricanes have announced that they will wear their alternate black (third) jersey for seven games this 2012-13 season, six of which will be at home.

The Hurricanes first wore the black alternate jersey in 2008-09. The Hurricanes will wear the black jerseys for the first of seven times in 2012-13 in one month’s time on Feb. 13. The Hurricanes will also wear the black jersey at home on Mar. 2, 7, 14, 26 and Apr. 6. On the road, the Hurricanes will wear black on Apr. 21 (in Tampa Bay).
