NHLNHLGrant Mulvey spent 10 seasons in the National Hockey League from 1974-75 to 1983-84, the bulk of which was played with the Chicago Blackhawks. He split his final pro season between the NHL and AHL where he won the Calder Cup with the American League’s Maine Mariners. He retired that off-season before his 28th birthday.

A first-round draft pick in the summer of 1974 and an NHL rookie just a few months later, he was the youngest player in the league in 1974-75. He scored seven goals during the regular season plus an additional two goals in the playoffs. He went on to enjoy two 30-goal seasons, including 1979-80 when he scored a team-best 39 goals. He won a Smythe Division title in 1978-79 and helped the Blackhawks reach the Campbell Conference final in 1982.

His NHL rights were claimed by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the start of the 1983-84 season, but he was claimed off waivers by the New Jersey Devils less than a week later. It was within the Devils’ organization that Mulvey won the 1984 Calder Cup with the Mariners.

Mulvey’s rookie cards were issued in the 1975-76 O-Pee-Chee and 1975-76 Topps hockey card sets (#272). After his career-best 1979-80 season, he was one of four Chicago players featured on the cover of the 1980-81 Blackhawks Yearbook.
